The Challenge

How do you translate the chaotic, multicultural, and rebellious spirit of a hip hop collective into a tangible brand experience?

For Chinese Man, the challenge was to design a special edition package for their new album that went beyond music—an object that embodied their identity, values, and connection with fans.

The Outcome

At the heart of the project was the idea of the rhizome, a system without hierarchy, always growing and renewing.

This became the foundation for the Rizoma Republic, a fictional community where freedom, diversity, and authenticity coexist.

    • A bold emblem mixing organic roots and urban symbols, representing connection and chaos.

    • A collector’s box containing the album, a photobook, a manifesto poster, and limited-edition merchandise.

    • “Recollect—Mix—Renew,” turning fragments of culture into a new collective identity.

The Concept

The result was a collectible cultural object that transformed an album launch into an immersive experience.

Fans didn’t just receive music; they joined a movement, a symbolic republic of creativity and rebellion.

The design blended bold typography, red-and-black contrasts, and textures inspired by underground culture, making the package a true extension of the band’s philosophy.

My Design Philosophy

For me, this project was about turning music into a territory, a place where sound, identity, and design meet to create community.
