The Challenge

Reducing Waste in Everyday Produce Packaging

Traditional avocado packaging often generates unnecessary plastic waste and fails to align with eco-conscious consumer demands. The challenge was to create a design that would protect the avocado during transport, be easy to carry, and support the natural ripening process—all while being 100% sustainable.

The Outcome

Nature-Inspired Simplicity

The Tierra Verde packaging concept was shaped to mimic natural protection. Made from molded pulp fiber, it is biodegradable and compostable. The design includes a window that exposes the fruit, allowing consumers to monitor ripeness without opening the package, and a handle for easy portability. The use of twine reinforces the eco-friendly and artisanal character.

    • Molded pulp fibers, fully compostable.

    • A viewing window to track ripeness without waste.

    • Integrated handle for carrying.

    • Reduces plastic use while supporting eco-conscious markets.

The Concept

A Market-Ready Eco Alternative

The Tierra Verde packaging became a prototype that demonstrates how design can merge function and sustainability. It provided a strong foundation for brands to rethink produce packaging and highlighted the potential for biodegradable solutions in organic markets. The result was a concept that balances consumer needs, ecological responsibility, and product preservation.
